Megan McGrath Gates and the Lucas & Lewellen winery team began crushing the first few lots of 2013 Pinot Grigio from our Los Alamos Vineyard today, September 5th.  Father John Finley met us at the winery to receive the grapes and solemnly offered petition for the harvest in our traditional "Blessing of the Grapes" service. 

This centuries-old ceremony, practiced by many religions and cultures throughout the ages, honors the vineyards, the grapes, and the hard work of the people who make the annual wine grape harvest a reality. Father John said a prayer of thanksgiving and asked for a blessing upon Louis, Royce, Megan, and the extended Lucas & Lewellen family.  With renewed purpose and a fresh perspective, we are looking forward to the hope and challenge that this year's harvest brings.
